This week's adventure took place at Cunningham Falls State Park in northern Frederick County. Video
The park is quite a popular family destination, and it's clear why. The sort-of beach, boat rentals and hiking to a dangerous rocky waterfall must appeal to kids.
Not so much to me, though. I prefer my hikes to be a little less crowded. It's probably less crowded at the park mid-week, whereas I was there Sunday. Still, when I'm hiking, which is rare, I don't like to see women pushing strollers on the trail. That dispels the notion of the activity being challenging.
But I only hiked the falls trail, and there are plenty more.
The park also cost $4 per person to get in. It doesn't seem like much, but I prefer to pay nothing. But there aren't that many lakes around here in which it's advisable to swim, so I guess the cost might be worth it. Again, if you're into that kind of thing.
